Strong and Successful Communities
There were over 60 attendees at the Chase CVS annual Chase 3rd Sector Networking Luncheon on Wednesday 25th March 2009 at Brereton and Ravenhill Parish Hall. This year the event focused on the successes of local voluntary and community organisations, provided information on possible funding sources and launched the Home Comforts, Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) funded, Project.
Home Comforts would like to thank Mr Ken Ansell, consort of Mrs Patricia Ansell – Chairman of Cannock Chase Council, for his support in officiating at their launch. Their appreciation also goes to the representatives from The Coalfields Regeneration Trust; Suzanne Clarke, Regional Programme Manager who introduced Peter McNestry, Chair of the Board of Trustees who gave an overview on the work of the Trust.
Kate Bainbridge, Home Comforts Project Manager, provided an insight into the work of Home Comforts and the benefits that would ensue thanks to the CRT grant that has secured the project until 2011.
Nicola Edmonds, External Funding Officer for Staffordshire County Council, raised awareness of the funding opportunities available to the third sector through the Council’s Grants Programmes.
Attendees were engaged in mild seated exercise routines by Annette Walker, Exercise for You Co-ordinator of Age Concern, who had participants rolling their shoulders back and forth, not to mention waving feather dusters in the air! The purpose of the interaction was to highlight the benefits of the project to service users.
The finale was delivered by Mid Staffs Mind whose group The Walnuts rocked the event out; including in their repertoire renditions of Rolling Stones and Beatles classics.
