In addition, we offer a range of advice and support to individuals and organisations on all things volunteering-related.
How we can help you
Individuals
- Why volunteer?
Everyone has something to offer as a volunteer, however much time you have to give. People volunteer for all sorts of reasons - here are just a few:
- Meet new people and make friends
- Make a difference in your community
- Gain work experience
- Boost your self-confidence
- Learn new skills or put current ones to good use
- Try something different
- Access training
- Have fun!
Whatever your reason, we can give you help and advice to find a voluntary placement that’s right for you.
- Where do you start?
It’s your choice! There are two easy ways to begin volunteering:
- Talk to us
You’re welcome to visit us at the office in Chadsmoor, where we can talk about the kinds of volunteering you might be interested in and offer you a range of opportunities to choose from. We’re open from 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday, but please give us a call before you visit to make sure that someone is available to see you on the day. If you’d like to meet somewhere closer to you, or just to talk by telephone, please call us. - Register online
You can complete a registration form online by clicking here and we will contact you with a choice of opportunities to suit you. Alternatively, you can find details of our current volunteering opportunities on the national volunteering website, www.do-it.org.uk, where you can browse information on opportunities near you and apply online for anything you’re interested in.

Groups of People
We sometimes receive requests from groups of people – often staff groups from local companies – that want to volunteer locally to give something back to the community. This often happens as a ‘team day’ where a group will work together to complete a one-off task on behalf of a local voluntary organisation. If you would like to know more about the kinds of volunteering available for groups or staff teams locally, please get in touch.
Voluntary & Community Organisations
Volunteer centre services are free to organisations who are members of any CVS in Staffordshire , should organisations who are not members wish to utilise the service there will be an annual fee of £20
- Recruiting and referring volunteers
By registering details with us about your organisation and your volunteer vacancies, we can refer volunteers meeting your requirements who would like to offer their time. Wherever possible, we will visit you to learn more about what you do, how you work and what you’re looking for in a volunteer. This enables us to get a better understanding of your organisation, so we can introduce your work to potential volunteers, answer any questions they may have and explain what needs to happen for them to start volunteering.
- Support and advice
We can provide information, advice and support on anything to do with volunteering. Here are just a few examples of what we can offer:
- Help creating documents such as volunteer policies, role descriptions etc.
- Good practice advice for managing your volunteers
- Information on volunteering while on benefits
- Advice on Criminal Records Bureau checking
- Helpful suggestions for dealing with volunteers in difficult situations
- Promoting your organisation
We will promote your volunteering opportunities to potential volunteers, including on the national volunteering website www.do-it.org.uk, as well as through events, local media, newsletters and e-bulletins amongst others. Because we work with as wide a network as possible of volunteer-involving organisations in the area, we can also help you to make links with other organisations and share information.
If you would like to register your volunteering opportunities with us, please contact us for an initial chat using the details on this page.
